This wonderful vessel depicts the god of wine and song, the Greeks, Dionysus.
His right hand holds the tip of his long cloak.
Around Dionysus are standing satyrs, with long tails.
It is clearly a banquet vessel.
The ryto is a container for drinking liquids or pots during relevant rituals.
A rhyton is a roughly conical container from which fluids were intended to be drunk or to be poured in some ceremony such as libation, or merely at table.
