The Amphora of Dipylos is the most important vessel of the geometric era and one of the most famous works of ancient Greek ceramic and angiographic art.

Its maker is the well-known Dipylos Angiographer. It dates back to the Late Geometric period, 760-750 BC.

The workshop of the Dipylos Angiographer had specialized in the construction of this monumental vase.

The Pottery of Dipylos may have been the potter of this vessel at the same time. Dipylo is of later construction.

The vase The amphora was a sign of a woman's grave, while a monumental crater was placed on the men's graves.

The vase is completely decorated with successive parallel horizontal frieze geometric decorations from meanders and rhombuses.

The main frieze contains two images framed by two small handles.

It contains a total of 19 human silhouettes.

The image on the front is longer than the image on the back.

It is framed by two small vertical meanders. It depicts a show of intention and mourning of a dead woman, as we conclude from the skirt she is wearing.

It is placed on a horizontal bed with a funeral bed. In front of the bed two kneeling women to the right are mourning, while to the right are a man and a woman to the left, who are also mourning.

Five more to the right are five women, and two men are also mourning, while a child touches the bed of the dead woman with his hand.

To the left of the bed are six other women and a mourning child, while the child also touches the bed with his hand.

The men are distinguished by the sword and knife they wear in the middle.

The rear view is framed by two large stars.

The neck of the vase contains two representations with grazing deer and resting goats.
