The horse was worshiped in ancient Greece. Since prehistoric times, horses have been an integral part of human history since the first time they appeared on Earth 55 million years ago.

As a means of transportation and companion in the effort to explore better living conditions, as an inseparable companion in wars and a source of income for agricultural work but mainly as a model of pride and strength.

It was an animal that many considered immortal. It is no coincidence that Voukefalas was buried with Alexander the Great. In the Iliad, Homer has given him metaphysical qualities (see Achilles' horses).

Therefore, in Greece, the consumption of horsemeat has not been particularly widespread since ancient times.

The horse for the Greeks was a symbol of strength, beauty and pride.
